    International Condom Day was created by AHF and celebrated each year on February 13th (the day before Valentine’s Day)



    The day came about as an innovative and lighthearted way to remind people that wearing a condom can prevent pregnancy and STDs, including HIV. The Healthcare Foundation hopes these seductive shows spark healthier sexual choices for all.

    Shrove Tuesday (not a public holiday, but always falling on a Sunday)



    Shrove Tuesday will always fall on a Sunday 49 days (7 weeks) before the first day of Easter, ie in the period 1 February to 7 March, (or in leap years 2 February to 7 March).



    The word fastelavn itself comes from the German word vastel-avent which means fasting evening, ie "the evening before fasting".
    The name is pronounced "fastelaven", and is often misspelled as such.
